One magical night each year, Revels waves goodbye to summer and welcomes in the fall with music, poetry and song.  This year's celebration includes family festivities in Harvard Square, a puppet-filled parade, and a glorious night of singing together as we revel in the change of season amidst the beauty of the Charles River and its parklands.

Revels music director George Emlen hosts the night, sharing the stage with guest soloists, song leaders David Coffin and Stan Strickland, folksingers Chris and Meredith Thompson, and the 80-member RiverSing Chorus of adults and children.  Gabriel Q's giant illuminated butterflies and the Puppeteer's Cooperative's whimsical puppets will provide appropriate atmosphere.  There will be other surprises as well (this is Revels, after all) so "Save the Date,"  tell your friends, and come be a part of this growing  family tradition!

Crooked Still Announces Three New England Reunion Shows!

November 28, 29 & 30.
Just received by email from Crooked Still.

Crooked Still Reunion Shows!

Hi Everyone,

It's been a long time since we've had any news to send out!

For the first time since 2012, Crooked Still will reunite for three very special New England shows on November 28th, 29th, and 30th.  The first performance will take place at the Strand Theatre in Rockland, ME (Nov. 28), followed by shows at the Sinclair in Cambridge, MA (Nov. 29) and the Academy of Music Theater in Northampton, MA (Nov. 30).  The Northampton show will be part of a series of events celebrating the 20th anniversary of Signature Sounds, the band’s Northampton-based record label.

After a decade of constant activity, the members of Crooked Still decided to take a break from touring in 2012 in order to pursue other projects and recharge creatively.  One year quickly became three as Aoife O'Donovan made an acclaimed solo CD, Greg Liszt toured and recorded with his band the Deadly Gentlemen, and Corey DiMario, Brittany Haas, and Tristan Clarridge all collaborated with a long list of acoustic music’s top artists.

Tickets for The Strand and The Sinclair shows will go on sale on July 18.  The Northampton show will go on sale in early September so stay tuned for more details!

Until November, here's a little info on what we are all up to!

Aoife has been romping all over the world in support of her critically acclaimed 2013 release, Fossils. Summer '14 highlights have included Glastonbury (UK), Roskilde (DK), Orkney Folk Festival (UK) and Telluride Bluegrass (CO), with upcoming performances at GreyFox (NY), Ossipee (ME) Newport Folk (RI) and Falcon Ridge (NY). Colorado take note: tomorrow, July 15, Aoife sings at the gorgeous Chautauqua Auditorium (Boulder) with luminaries My Brightest Diamond and Olga Bell, in a special collaborative concert presented buy the Colorado Music Festival. Details at www.aoifeodonovan.com

Brittany has been traveling nonstop this year, teaching at various music camps in various countries (England, Denmark, Canada & all over the states) and playing all sorts of gigs with many friends and heroes (recently she and cellist Tristan Clarridge played a gig in Harstad, Norway with Väsen guitarist Roger Tallroth and hardanger fiddler Annbjørn Lien). Most excitingly, she is releasing her debut album with trio Haas Kowert Tice (featuring Punch Brothers' bassist Paul Kowert and guitarist Jordan Tice) tomorrow--July 15! It's available all over the internet and in real life at their release shows in the northeast. Details here: haaskowerttice.com. They'll be playing several festivals to support it--Ossipee (ME), Grand Targhee (WY), Four Corners (CO), Freshgrass (MA), etc.

Greg has a very full schedule with the Deadly Gentlemen with appearance at some of the best festivals in the country.  www.deadlygentlemen.com

Tristan continues to roam the woods of California, teach at music camps, and tour all over the place with the Bee Eaters.  www.beeeaters.com

Corey is hard at work in VT with his family and is in demand as a bassist for hire.  You can catch him with the likes of Irish singer Karan Casey, The David Wax Museum, The Sweetback Sisters, as well as with singer and fiddler Lissa Schneckenburger.
