This musical play tells the remarkable story of a 19th century Boston Publisher and philanthropist, Daniel Sharp Ford, whose weekly periodical had the largest circulation of any periodical in the country at that time. Unlike his contemporary business titans of the Gilded Age, he didn't build mansions in Newport. Instead, he used his wealth to feed and clothe the poor, and to provide vocational training to enable them to support themselves during the tumultuous period between the Civil War and the end of the 19th century.
