Hot Tuna will be supported by Darol Anger and Emy Phelps (I'm thinking the inevitable joint performance when Jorma invites Darol on stage will sound like the good old days with Papa John Creech).
RT will be solo, imho the way he sounds and performs best!

From their days playing together as teenagers to their current acoustic and electric blues, probably no one has more consistently led American music for the last 50 years than Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady, the founders and continuing core members of Hot Tuna. The Rock and Roll Hall Of Famers originally formed Hot Tuna as a side project from their duties in The Jefferson Airplane, the legendary ground-breaking San Francisico band The project has continued its evolution for over five decades. They recently released their first studio album in 20 years. We proudly welcome them back to the New England coast.
World class fiddler, Darol Anger, was an original member of The David Grisman Quintet and went on to found Psychograss, The Republic Of Strings, and other cutting edge bluegrass groups. His partner, Emy Phelps, is a Boston-based singer/songwriter originally frorn the Pacific Northwest. A few years ago, they both liked what they saw in the Portland music scene so much, they moved to town. We have asked them to return for this special show. Ticket Information: All seats are General Admission. Please note, we request that all online orders be picked up one half hour before showtime.

The Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) returns to Newburyport just in time to celebrate the June 20 release of an 80 track 3 CD, DVD set of his BBC recordings.
Named by Rolling Stone Magazine as one of the Top 20 Guitarists of all-time and the recent recipient of both an Ivor Novello Award for Songwriting and the 2006 BBC Lifetime Achievement Award, the iconic British folk rock legend is one of the world's most critically acclaimed and prolific songwriters. His work is admired and recorded by such artists as Bonnie Raitt, David Byrne and Elvis Costello. From his teenage years as a founding member of the 1960's pioneering group Fairport Convention to duo work with his then-wife, Linda Thompson, and over 20 years as a solo artist, to scoring Werner Hertzog's 2005 documentary 'Grizzly Man', Richard Thompson's astounding body of work includes over 40 albums of lyrical wit anchored by such a singular acoustic and electric guitar delivery that Newsweek recently announced, 'like all genuine art, it satisfies completely.' Ticket Information: Please present e-ticket receipt for admission. This venue is general admission seating. |
