I would like to thank the people and businesses who have helped make the series a success.

  • All the volunteers, especially Angie who has been at most of the concerts, who help set-up chairs, run for coffee, ice and pastries, collect payment, etc etc etc.
  • JP Licks and Sweet Finnish for donations of coffee and pastries.
  • The JP Tuesday Club, owners of the Loring-Greenough House.
  • Naomi Arenberg and Ron Paul of WGBH-fm, who graciously allowed three Notlob artists into their studios for on-air interviews.
  • All the musicians who have graced the Notlob stage (er…hearth).
  • An anonymous benefactor who helped defray costs when attendance was low.
  • And finally all who have supported the series by attending concerts.

Keeping in touch. There are several ways to stay informed of scheduled events:

Feedback. Have you attended a concert and wish to write a review for publication? Send it to notlobmusic@gmail.com and it will be uploaded to the website's "feedback" area. If you have a "Yelp" account, post directly to , and the same for "Going". Or send a letter to the arts editor of a Boston-area publication. Or blog it. Thank you for spreading word of this unique series.

Street team. "Guerilla" publicity spreads the word to family, friends and neighbors. Posting flyers in your neighborhood music shops, book stores, coffee shops and workplace is appreciated. Send an email and receive a printer-ready flyer file in return. Be a regular guerilla and you may receive a nice reward.

Volunteering. This is a 100% volunteer-run effort. Concerts would not be possible without volunteer assistance. All interested in helping can read the Volunteer Policy.

And now what you have been waiting for - the Winter series

The February 9 benefit concert will be at the Democracy Center in Cambridge.

And at the time of this writing I cannot divulge the artists involved in the February 22 concert but there will be "at least one member" of a very famous string band that is booked to play Grey Fox 2008, "and friends". I guarantee it will be an evening to remember!

Keep your lamp trimmed and burning!

The fine print.

Notlob Music presents the best local and touring roots, Americana, newgrass, traditional blues and contemporary folk artists in unique and unusual settings. The venue is generally the historic Loring Greenough House, 12 South Street, Jamaica Plain, MA. 02130. Built in 1760, it is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and has been a historic house museum since 1926. Its beautiful period decor and intimate size make it an ideal setting for acoustic music. Concerts in your home can also be arranged.

Ticket price. The price is set to the lowest possible point that will insure a good community turn out, cover rent and other expenses and give the artists (many of whom travel many miles) a fair deal. Effective January 2008, for most shows, discounts will be given to all making reservations.

Reservations: Seating is limited to 40. Most past shows have sold out. Reservations are recommended and greatly appreciated and make running the series much more enjoyable for all! Reserve by sending an email. Include your name, number of seats and contact information. Email will be checked until midnight the night before the concert and you will receive a reply. Confirmed reservations will be held until 15 minutes before the concert; unclaimed reservations will be released to the general public, first come, first served. If you make a reservation and cannot attend, please send notice.

Handicap accessible: Call 617-524-3158 for more information.

Refreshments (coffee, teas, soda, water, pastries) are available for a donation. No outside food is allowed.

Parking: Parking is limited to 12 vehicles, first come, first served. The gates will be closed when the lot is full. There is a public parking lot behind Blanchard's liquors, one block away. If you require handicapped parking, please call the LG House caretaker the day of the show - 617-524-3158.

Public Transporation (MBTA): Take 39 bus from either Back Bay Station or Forest Hills Station to Monument stop, directly in front of the Loring-Greenough House, at the intersections of Centre and South Streets.
