Noah y Maurizio
Re-imagining the String Band”

Noah y Maurizio is a Boston-based band that comes out of the vibrant musical environments of the Berklee College of Music and the Acoustic Music Seminar at the Savannah Music Festival.  The individual members of the group are widely recognized as emerging artists in the acoustic music scene, but come from varied musical backgrounds - Traditional and Contemporary, Appalachian and Venezuelan, Brazilian and Jazz influences combine to give Noah y Maurizio a unique sound and broad appeal.  Their debut album “Acoustic Travelogue” is set to come out in Spring 2020.
Noah and Maurizio met and became friends in 2017 while studying Jazz Composition at Berklee.  In 2018, Noah and Parker Ousley attended the Acoustic Music Seminar at the Savannah Music Festival and bonded over their love of many different kinds of music, workshopping tunes with each other and eventually performing together at the festival with Canadian fiddle player extraordinaire Clara Rose.
Upon returning to Berklee, Noah talked to Maurizio about putting together a group to explore each other’s music, and suggested involving Brazilian guitar guru Joao Perrusi, and they experimented with leading downsized Jazz orchestras for a time
In February of 2019, Clara reached out to Noah saying she was coming to visit Boston for a week, and they decided to put together a few shows to celebrate!  Noah contacted Maurizio and asked if he wanted to try something very different than the Jazz Orchestras they’d been leading, and Maurizio said sure. Parker Ousley and Joao Perrusi came onboard to round out the group, and Mandolin maniac Ethan Setiawan topped it all off.  After a furious week of rehearsing brand new material, the shows went off without a hitch, and the group even found time to record an entire album with the great engineer Alex Leiva.
After Clara returned to Canada, Maurizio and Noah agreed that they had found something special, and wanted to continue the project.  They brought on the indomitable Sofia Chiarandini to take up the all-important role of fiddle player, and became Noah y Maurizio!
Since then they have played at Grey Fox 2019, WBUR Cityspace, Rabb Hall, and all around the Boston area.
"Noah y Maurizio's debut album is an inspiring display of brilliant solo and ensemble playing, as well as beautiful tune writing and arranging.  This is a special group with a unique sound - definitely worth keeping an eye on this group!" - Mike Block

“Josie Toney is one of the compelling, wonderful new voices bringing traditional music into today’s musical fabric. In performance, her lifetime and love of playing will draw you in immediately, with fearless, heartfelt singing and powerful fiddling (sometimes both at the same time, something I really love). Josie’s musical energy and chops are nothing short of uplifting, a joy to hear!” - Bruce Molsky

Evie Ladin and Keith Terry
Innovative musicians/dancers with a quirky neo-trad soul, Oakland, California-based Evie Ladin & Keith Terry throw down original folk songs and deep interpretations of old songs, with the kinetic thrill of percussive dance.
Ladin sings and plays infectious clawhammer banjo, while Terry is a master percussionist. It was Appalachian string band music pared to the absolute minimum of accompaniment, but packed with an orchestra’s worth of rhythm. — Music City Roots, Nashville
A prolific singer-songwriter, percussive dancer and square dance caller, the polyrhythmic heat of Evie’s clawhammer banjo has been heard from A Prairie Home Companion to Celtic Connections, Lincoln Center to Hardly Strictly Bluegrass. She can write, she can sing, and she pulls back from the saccharine brink with wit – a sharp intelligence. –Grant Alden, No Depression
Trained as a jazz drummer, Keith Terry brings tonal percussion to stand-up bass, is a renowned percussionist/rhythm dancer, the founder of the International Body Music Festival, and a collaborator with a host of inventive performers from Bobby McFerrin, Tex Williams and Robin Williams, to Turtle Island Quartet, Charles “Honi” Coles and Bill Irwin. Mr. Terry in action is like visiting an anatomical carnival, where hands, feet, fingers, engage in a musical ballet. – Wall Street Journal
Evie & Keith perform for all ages, and are skilled educators, often offering workshops and in-school activities while touring, from elementary through professional level training on a host of topics. In 2019 they celebrate the release of the fourth CD of original music, Caught On A Wire, with the Evie Ladin Band, a tight trio with Erik Pearson.
